Sudden realization that I had left off a few favorites...so here's my revised list. For voting purposes, this should supplant what I posted yesterday.

I could only come up with 15 this year. Acquired via either Not Lame, or e-music, or iTunes.

1) Army Navy - Army Navy
An e-music recommendation. Enjoying indie pop like this makes me feel young again. Great anthemic chorus on "Slight of Hand"
2) Rural Alberta Advantage - Hometowns
Another E-music rec. Very "indie" sound, I guess. But way cool/interesting, and different from most of what I listen to
3) Sloan - Parallel Play
These guys make it look too easy
4) The New Odds - Cheerleader
Nice return, with my favorite track of the year, "Feel Like This All The Time"
5) Three Hour Tour - B Side Oblivion
This guy, Darren Cooper, can't write a bad song. Classic power pop, with Adam Schmitt behind the boards and on bass, and guests Ric Menck and Paul Chastain (Velvet Crush)
6) Jules Shear - More
Inconsistent, but a few great tracks. Many years ago, I named a cat after him.
7) Attic Lights - Friday Night Lights
Just downloaded this yesterday (based on Audities chatter); lovin' it already
8) The Tripwires - Makes You Look Around
Former Model Rockets, whom I've been way into lately
9) Mike Viola – Lurch
Would make the list on the strength of “Strawberry Blonde” alone
10) The Major Labels – Aquavia
Bleu and Mike Viola, and I’m a big fan of both. Very well done
11) Roger Joseph Manning Jr. - Catnip Dynamite
Superior craftmanship, of course, and some good songs
12) Khalid Hanifi - Pamplemousse Presse
I remember him from Map of the World 20+ years ago; more recently he released a great cd as the Maypops
13) Readymade Breakup - Alive On The Vine
This is the guy from the now-defunct The Blakes. Getting more singer/songwriter-ey, but still very tuneful
14) Matthew Sweet - Sunshine Lies
A couple of nice tracks, but overall...meh
15) Andy Bopp - This Guitar Kills Singer Songwriters
I like the electric (Myracle Brah) versions better, but still great songs

Reading the lists posted so far, I already know I want to check out the 2008 releases from Elvis C., Pugwash, Greg Pope, Glen Campbell, Rob Bonfiglio, Vibeke, Oasis, Ben Folds, and even Rick Springfield!
