Well, I'll risk heresy and say I haven't been enamored of the languorous
pacing of either one of the recent installments. As well, I thought the 2nd
movie was bombastic to the point of a learned helplessness paradigm in
psychology. I couldn't wait to leave the theater (and gratefully, unlike the
learned helplessness paradigm, I found I could).
Off-topic, but if anyone has some really GOOD recommendations to fill in my
Netflix list, please feel free to email me offline. I tend to like my movies
more along the lines of Bill Forsyth's early movies (Gregory Girl, Local
Hero, Comfort & Joy) or perhaps more recently, a movie like The Station
Agent.
