Steve,
That has always been one of my all time favorite rock books.? I think Guy Peelart's paintings are brilliant, often nightmarish or dreamlike and certainly capture the essence of each artist.

I remember hearing somewhere (Jagger interview perhaps) that when
Bowie heard the Stone's were doing a cover with art by Peellaert, he
ran out and snatched him up for the "Diamond Dog" cover. He also put
his album out before the Stone's was released to beat them to the
punch so to speak. At least I think that is how the story goes....
