Suggestion: After you back them up (whether the station springs for
a site or you literally burn them off to some storage media), have a
rotating "Blast From The Past" feature where you re-load one of them
each week. That will only require a small space and you can even
post a poll with five suggestions, letting the top vote-getter take
the honor.

I know we've been trying to become a paperless society for decades,
but never thought the ether would run low so fast. :)

Yeah...we've thought about that in the past but believe it or not
the skeleton crew here is just like most radio stations around the
country that just uploading and taking down podcasts can be just as
time consuming to deal with along with the daily downloading of
music, commercials from national agencies and syndicated
programming. The drag is that in some cases depending which station
we're at...we have to load up anywhere from 20 to 30 hours of
programming into hard drives in "real time". Yikes! Rippers that
don't work or get replaced require real time producing. Sometimes
you wonder why they even bother recording all of this when it could
just be done the old fashioned way with a DJ actually in the studio
to run those shows. The pay is essentially the same. Go figure.
*lol

We've spoken with other podcasters who have run into the same
problem in terms of space online and deleting is the only option.
The problem in becoming a paperless society means more hard drive
space is needed.  :=)

I'm lucky in the sense that at least I can have a little freedom
doing it the old fashioned way with turntables, tape decks and CD
players.

I'll definately pass that info on as it is a good idea. We'll most
likely have to use a number of those free sites. It will mean that
we have to jump all over the net but still it's an option.

Aloha,
Michael McCartney
