I did it! My first-ever power-pop special on my FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT
show. No new stuff. I mainly stuck to what I consider the classics
with a few '60s gems mixed in - and avoided songs that appeared on
Rhino power-pop anthologies. The playlist is below.
Coming Nov. 9 & 13: "THE GOLDEN AGE OF INDEPENDENT LABELS" - A survey
of great indie music from the 15 years following World War II. Plenty
of rock 'n' roll, blues, hillbilly, jazz, gospel, R&B, etc. An amazing
time for independent labels.
FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT can be heard on a station called The Detour
(www.thedetour.us): Sundays from 8-11 p.m., with a repeat on Thursday
mornings from 9 to 12 noon, EST. You can also catch it at 105.3 FM
should you be floating through Johnson City, Tennessee.
