I've been on a Yes bender of late, listening to all their vinyl I have in order. After not really listening to them for 10 years plus, I found that the first album is still really great, the second is decent, things really take off with The Yes Album, Fragile is superb and Close to the Edge is epic -- even better than I remembered it! Topographic Oceans is better than I've been giving it credit for, but Alan White is no Bill Bruford and Wakeman seemed to be phoning in his parts. Relayer is mediocre (although Pat Moraz did an admirable job replacing Wakeman) and the singles on Going for the One are wondrous. And that's as far as I've gotten. Looking forward to Whales and Onward from Tormato, the tragically overlooked Drama (popsters should note the absorption of the Buggles into the band for this record) and the mighty comeback that was 90125. I think I'll skip Big Generator in favor of some Asia, though . . .
