Let's not forget that Stevie Wonder kinda pioneered that whole Mariah-type crazy vocal style (at least to these jaded ears). 

Of course, Stevie could actually WRITE AMAZING MUSIC, but -- occasionally -- he goes just a little over the top, vocally, all the way back to the classic early-to-mid '70's stuff.
