"Bitch I Love You" has been absolutely incendiary on recent dates! Not that I've been there first hand, lately, but I've been mad for Black Joe since SXSW a couple years back, I can't recommend the live performances highly enough, no matter your particular musical leanings!

And in other fiery live news, I saw Ben Kweller again last night, and damn he puts on a fantastic show! It's officially my top show of the year so far (and this year I've seen amazing shows by people like Brian Wilson, Old 97s, Shearwater, Okkervil River, Hacienda with Delta Spirit and Dr Dog, etc.)! And, as an added bonus, he's still just a really great guy!

Enough about annoying songs already...let's get back to recommending the
good stuff ;-) !

I survived my 6th Austin City Limits Music Festival. There are a good number of
local Austin bands mixed in with national and international acts. I finally got
around to seeing a local band I've been hearing about for quite awhile.
That's Black Joe Lewis and The Honeybears. I caught their set after seeing a
fantastic set by Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings. Black Joe is like the son of
James Brown and Ray Charles. Good stuff. Just listen to "Bitch I Love
You" and "I Don't Mind" and you'll understand why.
They've supported Spoon in the past and have been supporting Okkervil River
on some recent tour dates.
