I just wanted to mention a few bands that might appeal to some of you in Audities-land.

The first is Hacienda - a solid quartet out of San Antonio and Austin. The band consists of 3 brothers and a cousin. Their influences include a couple of B's (Beatles and Beach Boys but even a little Booker T). Their debut record, Loud Is The Night, will be released on Sept 13th. It was produced by Dan Auerbach from The Black Keys and a couple of members of Dr Dog contribute backing vocals and harmonies. They're opening for Dr Dog for a month starting in mid-Sept. They've been a live favorite of mine since I first saw them early this spring.
You can listen to a few of their tunes at : http://www.myspace.com/haciendaspace. Their official site is : http://www.haciendaonline.net.

Another recent Austin favorite is a quintet called Dans La Lune. Energetic, crunchy, 60s garage pop/rock. They started playing at the beginning of the year and are working on a putting a record together. They played a Guitar Center employees showcase last weekend and even the "headbangers" loved them ! They have a few demos available for your listening pleasure : http://www.myspace.com/danslalunemusic. There are also a few decent video clips on YouTube available from this link : http://www.youtube.com/user/nitesatx

My last pick is an Austin based called Electric Touch. Their self titled debut record will be released next week on the 26th. One review has described their sound as British area rock meets Texas boogie. It leans towards Britpop for me but it still retains a powerpop vibe as well. The singer was previously the bass player in Nic Armstrong and The Thieves/IV Thieves. Electric Touch formed last year and they've been touring almost nonstop this year including the major festivals (Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Coachella). In early Sept, they hit the road as one of the bands supporting The Fratellis on their US tour. You can listen to their tunes at http://www.myspace.com/electrictouchmusic or http://www.electrictouchmusic.com.

Cheers,

Jennifer
