I would recommend All Songs Considered on NPR, presented by Bob Boilen. A
half hour or so each week playing mostly new releases with just a little
talking inbetween. His tastes are fairly eclectic so there's usually
something worth hearing. He also does good year end shows discussing the
years music with the likes of Robert Christgau and Carrie Brownstein and
guest DJ shows which most recently had Randy Newman choosing the music.
If you're into listening to live gigs then they also have a full length
concert podcast that's probably worth taking a look at (which again, most
recently featured Randy Newman though they also have gigs by the likes of
The New Pornographers, Nick Lowe and the Decemberists to name but 3)
