I reviewed Bell X1 several months back for PopMatters, but my mention of Flock here was within an email praising several other bands as well, I think.
Anyway, I still think it's one of the standout albums this year.

I don't remember seeing mention of the Irish band Bell X1 on audities.
Their album Flock is one of my favorites of the year. This is their first album
released in the US. I believe they have 4 in all.
I haven't checked out any of their other albums. I'm guessing that
Flock has songs from more than one. I know Flame is at least two years old.
"Flame" is one of the catchiest pop songs I've ever heard (the
version on the myspace page is a remix - I prefer the original). They are
equally comfortable with Radiohead-like songs, Keane-like ballads and brooding
numbers a la Damien Rice (no surprise, he was once in a band with these guys).
My other favorite Bell X1 song is "My First Born For a Song".
They also put on an amazing live show. They're opening for Stars in the US
in September. It looks like they are headlining in Boston.
