Idle Race, and the last Move lp, Message From The Country are awfully
great. Looking On is just madness. As for ELO, I loved them, and the
idea, but live it was a different deal. The first tour they didn't
know what to expect. Greg Shaw insisted they play Do Ya, which Jeff
dismissed as a B side. They did play it in Hollywood wheh I saw them.
The crowd went nuts and was singing along. Jeff Lynne stopped playng
for a moment and turned around to the band with his jaw on the floor.
The moment was historical. The next two times I saw them, it was a
joke, and had nothing to do with the songs.
Historical note, I saw the Move at one of there three stops in the US.
I sort of gave up on ELO, after Eldorado. I think it was the peak. The
rest might have been ok, but not for me. But I have all those records,
just in case I wise up.
As for the Beach Boys... get serious guys, they are really as good as
it got. Just don't pay attention to the drama. They didn't make a bad
record until L.A, or MIU. Even Keeping The Summer Alive is a
monster... well great title track....Don't you think Roy Wood and Jeff
Lynne were fans? Those Beatles were too. and me!

precursor bands too... The Move and Idle Race.
