To All Kind Supporters of The Aerovons......

I really hate mass mailings, but there have been so many of you who have
written over the years to express your enjoyment of "Resurrection" that
I will never get the new album done if all I do is type emails;)

I'm writing some of you with whom I have spoken recently, others, who
perhaps wrote me several years ago with whom I've lost touch. For those
folks I hope you still receive this....

I'm writing with good news, and I have always promised to keep everyone
up to date on the progress of The Aerovons follow-up album to
"Resurrection." It has taken forever to get this done, and the truth is,
it is still not done, but I am closing in on it at last.

One of the things I was determined to do on this album was to make a
collection of songs that were all good. We all have closetfuls of
records with two good cuts on them, and I just didn't see the point in
doing that. This album in truth could have been out two years ago had I
felt that two or three really strong songs were good enough, and some
"OK" songs could fill it out. Not for me. So the challenge was, on a
personal level, to do a record that I myself would buy. I wanted it to
be something that if I heard any one cut on the radio, I'd be rushing up
to iTunes or Amazon because I'd HAVE to have it. It's a lofty goal but I
think I have done it. Not being Lennon nor McCartney, great songs don't
come to me by the hour, and I can go for months throwing away ideas in
favor of waiting for a bolt of inspiration. And that indeed has happened
throughout the making of this new album. Months would literally pass
until I got another strong melody or lyric idea that I simply had to
record. For me, sitting down at a piano and "Working On a New Song" is
not the way to go. I find they come at the oddest times...in the market,
in the car, going to sleep at night....

In addition, because the original other members of the group are not
available (Billy Lombardo passed away recently and Mike had a stroke
years back which prohibits him from playing drums), finding the right
talent to supplement my work on the album was a challenge. I was blessed
with the help of 3 dear friends who are all terrific singers and
players, and who would have been naturals to be in a modern day Aerovons
had I built the group today. In reality, there were always a number of
versions of The Aerovons, right up until we left for England. The
constant was myself, who started the group, and acted as leader (for
better or worse;))......I do stay in touch with Mike and wish he could
have been involved.

So enough of all this. For those who have been awaiting a new album, or
even mildly curious about what something would sound like by a guy who
last released an album in the Sixties, you'll soon know. I am currently
in the mixing stage, which I anticipate will take about 6 more weeks, as
there are still 3 songs in production. The album will be 12 songs in
content.

In a few weeks our website at www.aerovons.com will be updated with some
more info, and when a firm release date is in hand I'll write you all
again. It will take a lot of word of mouth when this record comes out to
let people know about it, and I hope you will all help me with that. It
is an album I'm very proud of, with....I hope...none of the shortcomings
of my first record, which are many....and I hope it will give listeners
an idea of what I've learned over the years from making music
commercially on a daily basis. I think that is one reason it does sound
fresh and up to date, even though the material itself is still firmly
rooted in pop, and British pop at that. I grew up as a kid firmly in the
hypnotic hold of great harmony and ringing guitars supporting very
strong melodies...while another side of me was infatuated with all
manner of film score style orchestration. You'll hear that sonic
marriage on this album, and I hope it works for you as it does me.

So thanks for listening to this update, and soon I hope all of you will
be listening to the very long in coming new Aerovons release.

Thanks so much for all of your interest and support.

Best to all of you....
Tom Hartman
The Aerovons
