I really had no intention of springing for a $30 DVD, but I couldn't find
Sparks' newest video anywhere cheaper. So I sprung for it.
Wow! I've never had the pleasure of seeing Sparks live, even though I've
been a died-in-the-wool fan since I bought Kimono back in 1974 or 75. What
a show!!!
This video, entitled Dee Vee Dee, is divided into two sets. The first half
is the group performing the Hello Young Lovers album in it's entirety. They
have a screen in the middle of the stage and Ron gets up and does all kinds
of cool theatrics during the songs against different usually backgrounds.
He even has a fistfight with himself at one point. Very well choreographed
and thoroughly entertaining.
The second set is old favorites and is great, but this would've been worth
the price for the first set alone.
