Most albums in the UK list for about 14 or 15 pounds, which is 28 to 30
bucks. HMV had the album on the sale the week it came out -- 10 pounds
for the jewel case version and 13 pounds for the "special" edition -- a
cardboard sleeve with a poster lyric sheet. I should have bought the
jewel case version...

> EBAY UK for damn near $30! That's ridiculous.
> On the other hand it's a perfect mash-up of their classic 70's sound: falsetto vocals with insane melodies and Guitars...and their last 2 records: "Hello Young Lovers" and "L'il Beethoven"- with the huge orchestrations and that f-ing kettle drum. Highlight's are the first single, "Good Morning" and a typically hysterical song called
> "I have Never Been High" with sweeping piano arpeggio's and fantastic waves of layers that keep washing up with more and more to offer as the song continues. They defy genres as a whole, but they glean from their own past(Like on "Good Morning" with the great bridge and middle-eight and high vocal.) and "The Director Never Yelled Cut" sounds like it could've been on the last record...except there's a wonderful vocal choir in the song with great harmonies and cool chords.(also the "intro" to the record also has some fantastic full lush harmonies refraining "I don't care if you love me/just so you like me." More Queen-like then I've heard Sparks...considering how much Sparks initially influenced Queen. (check "Under the Table WIth Her" from Propaganda and "Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon" by Queen for a good comparison of Freddies' falsetto and Russell's. Quite similar.
> Sparks are not for everyone. That said, this is close to the most accessible album they've done.
> The record is the 21st by a band that won't ever stop being themselves and who now take their misfit brand of pop to the people all by themselves. No label, folks. And that means freedom for the Maels to take time and create these wicked little masterpieces we call records.
> No matter the style or the date it's still Sparks and thank God for that.
> Still relevant after all these years.
> A great record for the fans and a great introduction for newbies.
