Everyone loves a sad song. Kerris Howard [ex Brighter from Sarah Records] has made a career of writing them.Like Brighter, Harper Lee is beautiful chiming guitars and wistful vocals. All break up songs .Songs like "Everybody Leaves", "I don't want to know about your wonderful life", and "There is a light in me that's gone".All stellar stuff on the Matinee label, an excellent pop label. I can't tell you how many times I have put on Harper Lee to match a mood. Like Wong Kar Wai, the amazing Asian movie director, the theme is longing and regret and what could have been. Lovely stuff. Yes, I have gotten a couple tears from this music but mostly chills.I love the way the guitars layer the mood and the vocals fall in place.
I am not trying to bring you down. Just turn you on to some cool tunes. If you listen to just one , try "This is the sound that a Heart makes when it's breaking". Lovely.
Enjoy!

Cocktail[for Phil} will probably be Mojitos if I can get fresh mint. Chicago refuses to submit to Spring ,and I usually need it to be warm out for these. But what the heck!
