I know "return to form" is often bandied about too loosely (Macca anyone?), but....
 
If you lost interested in EC sometime in the early 80's, this might not be a bad time to revisit him.  I'm a huge fan, and I buy probably 90% of his output....but over the last 10-15 years I've not really bonded with any of his work.  Here's the summary statement from a review I just read:
 
"Momofuku is not as ear-poppingly good as the holy trilogy Costello released between 1977 and 1979, but it is definitely the closest he has come to recapturing the magic of his early work in years. "
 
I think that sums it up nicely.
