I was about to bring this record up. It's currently in my Top 10 new
releases of the moment.
The other half of the Shadow Puppets is Miles Kane, from a very promising
young band called The Rascals.
They were just featured on last week's installment of the Guardian's Music
Weekly podcast. Good stuff.

And I'm right there with you on the Arctic Monkeys -- they're one of the few
UK bands of the last couple years to actually justify the oceans of hype
foisted upon them.

Another off the top of my head that I'm really digging is the new Last
Shadow Puppets CD. Essentially a duo lead by Alex Turner, head Arctic
Monkey. The music is very much in a mid-to-late 60's vibe with full
string and horn section throughout. Several songs sound like they could
have come straight off a James Bond soundtrack.

I can see hard core Arctic Monkeys fans being disappointed, but I think
it's one of the best of the year. I'm anxious to see where Turner goes
next. He was shot out of a cannon at 17 with that first Monkeys album,
but between that follow up and this new one, it's looking like this kid
is the real deal.
