Because Michael wants to wash his hands of list-mod duties, which is
fair enough.

Sorry if I wasn't clear: my point was if the membership of the "new"
list is essentially the same as Audities but just under a new name and
mod (and that mod is currently busy with other pressing family
matters), what's the point in forming a new list? It becomes mainly a
"rebranding" exercise. Why not just continue Audities as it is?
Despite the recent fooferah, Audities in my experience is a very well
behaved list with generally civil discord.

You are probably not alone in thinking this per many have shared some
disappointments over the change in focus of the list (myself included
at times). Clearly some great posters are gone or at least way deep
in lurk mode. I'm so glad Bruce Brodeen is still posting from time to
time. I miss the "old days" in a lot of ways but you know things have
a way of changing. I ask "what's the point" in asking this question?
I would think that if one felt the direction this list had taken no
longer served any point to them they would leave regardless of a new
list being started. Or better yet (to me) they could stay and try to
keep discussions alive in what they find bring them value (such as
talking about lesser known indep pop bands). But clearly some see a
point in this new list forming and they are continuing.

Anyway, most importantly, this gives me a chance to restate the
obvious that others have said. These lists don't amount to a "hill of
beans" compared to taking care of family in difficult times. So, for
whatever it's worth, Sarah take the time you need.
I'm sorry to learn of the struggles you and your husband are going
through.
