I love them all -- as well as Lawrence Hayward's very different later
projects Denim and Go-Kart Mozart -- but I would recommend holding off
on TRAIN ABOVE THE CITY unless you're a fan of minimalist cocktail
jazz: it's an entirely instrumental album played on piano and vibes,
and Hayward's only contribution is that he titled the songs. I like
this album very much, but I totally realize why not everyone would.
If you like FOREVER BREATHES THE LONELY WORD, try IGNITE THE SEVEN
CANNONS next, because that's the one closest to that album's sound
(and it also has their most famous song, "Primitive Painters," a
collaboration with the Cocteau Twins), but my personal favorite is
probably THE SPLENDOUR OF FEAR.
