Indeed, Flipville Records is still in operation (1936 N. Farwell Ave.,
414/272-1131). The place is cram-packed with antique toys, board games,
magic potions and vinyl. Somehow, the owner found room to put up an IPO
flyer. Check it out.

If you're in Milwaukee for IPO, Atomic Records is
right down the street (across the river) from
Linneman's - about a half-mile east. It's easily the
best record store in Milwaukee for indie music and the
occasional in-store. http://www.atomic-records.com/
(1813 E. Locust St)

If you're looking for used CDs & Vinyl, Bullseye
Records is the place. (Formerly Farwell Music, but
they moved & changed the name). It's slightly off the
beaten path, but not out of the way at all. I guess it
would be considered lower Eastside - Between Farwell &
Oakland (north of Brady St). I used to spend hours
digging through the dollar bins. Also, the best place
for Jazz records in town. (1627 E. Irving Pl.)

Right near there was Flipville, but I think they are
gone. (1936 N Farwell Ave)

Continuing South is the semi-chain store The Exclusive
Company. It has a good selection & cheaper prices
(Terry from Trolley & Nice Outfit works there). They
do some in-stores on occasion. (1669 N Farwell Ave)

If you're looking for vintage LP's or TONS of 45's,
Musical Memories is the place. Downtown, near the lake
- They have some unconventional hours and a surly old
guy is usually working, but this is where I found many
new wave singles, the Robbs' album and also a CD
compilation of all the Robbs' singles - that may not
have been sanctioned by anyone, but it's nice to know
someone preserved them for the masses. (833 E
Kilbourn Ave)

All of these are fairly close together and would be
considered "walk-able" in a larger city. Although,
round trip would be about 5 miles and with an armful
of albums, that can be a pain.

That should get you through the weekend. If you're on
the SouthSide, Rushmor is the indie store. Definitely
skews more towards the punk or metal. (2635 S
Kinnickinnic Ave). If you're in that general area, you
should definitely check out the Mexican Restaurants. I
consider them better than most of the Mexican I've had
since moving to Austin. Milwaukee is a very segregated
city & the Hispanic neighborhood is centered around
the restaurants in the 5th & National neighborhood.
There are about 6-8 in a very small area. My favorites
were La Perla and Botano's. If you want fast & cheap,
Conejito's is paper plates & picnic tables & worth
checking out - especially if you're with a group of
people.
