Hey now. I'm all for mocking Madonna (recent SNL Weekend Update gag:
"In a new interview in Vanity Fair, Madonna says that New York now
lacks the energy and excitement it had in the '80s. Said New York,
'Right back atcha.'"), but "Borderline" works as music in its original
form. The reason Kevin's revamping works so well is because he's got
a terrific chorus and a solid melody to work with. "Borderline" is
one of the handful of Madonna songs I will unreservedly stand up for.

I repeat the praise for Kevin's HOW TO BUILD A LIGHTHOUSE, though I'm
puzzled why the liner notes say he covers "See Emily Play" when it's
actually "Arnold Layne."
