First heard Eisley on their early ep's. Took note. Their gentle indie
pop with folk, and even a slight 'sarah records' touch, caught my ear.
Waited for their debut album with too high expectations, maybe that's
why I didn't like it at all. In fact, I found that one, 'Room Noises',
sort of a letdown. The overall sound and style were there, but no songs
caught my attention, even after two or three listenings. Not really bad,
just unappealing for me. Still don't own it. The new album ,
'Combinations', from '07 (which I think is the one you're asking about),
takes a big leap towards a different, much more produced sound: very
polished, less fragile, more energetic and strong, with big echoed
choruses and slightly heavier guitars. Much more mainstream, but in a
very good way. Not a perfect album yet, but with at least 3 or 4
excellent songs, and nothing really bad on it. I'm quite satisfied for
owning it. Recommended for any fans of straight forward female fronted
pop rock, with that sort of folkish or mystic feel. Reference points in
my opinion: late 'Til Tuesday, Grey Eye Glances, 10,000 Maniacs, Abra Moore.

Rafael.

They definitely have a dark ,mythic vibe to their music, but I like how it is all put together. My initial reaction was the singing. I saw them on Conan and they were very much into performing and singing like angels. The dvd has them rehearsing and you can tell they are into this for the long haul. 2 songs off the new one that I really like are "Invasion" and "If you're wondering". I look forward to watching this band grow.
