I have purchased a Numark TT-USB Turntable, which I believe (from the price I
paid) is a "starter" turntable, but I am just experimenting right now and
hopefully if the process I have planned works the way I want it to, I will
eventually upgrade. I have also recently purchased a very fine used laptop to devote
totally towards this endeavor, to go with a studio quality CD burner I've had
for a little while.
From the prices of new and used vinyl at the record store I frequent the most
(props to Manifest in Charlotte, one of the best CD stores I've been to
anywhere) I should be able to get good new-to-totally- virgin vinyl at near the
price of a used CD if not way under depending on the record (if it's used). Don't
know if it's the same everywhere but I feel I have missed the boat for years.
For example, this store has two of the rare David Werner LPs everyone's been
talking about on the list and a super -rare (could be their first-ever) single
by the Gigolo Aunts among other things....why am I not transferring this
stuff to vinyl yet? Because I am an idiot. Things will change, however.
