Haven't heard the new one but I loved Cosmic Thing and "Topaz". Great, great
album from a band few would pick as their faves or would think them capable of
anything so great. The guitar playing by the ex-drummer (forget his name
right now) is some of the best soul guitar playing I've ever heard. Steve Cropper
should be jealous as hell about that's guy's work on that album. Once upon a
time I played guitar and wish I could play like Keith Richards or Ron Wood.
Then I heard Cosmic Thing and wish I could have played like that guy.

I'd make a couple small disagreements with that. First off, most of
side two of the debut is absolutely dreadful, but also, buried deep on
side two of COSMIC THING is "Topaz," which for my money is the B-52s'
single finest four minutes ever. Perfect little pop song.
