Hey all.
As some of you may know, by day I cover Pennsylvania politics for The Morning Call of Allentown, Pa.
I'm working on a story for this weekend's papers about the parallels, if any, between Barack Obama's race speech on Tuesday and JFK's Catholic speech in 1960.
I seem to recall that we have some members in the bunch who might be of the appropriate vintage to remember the Kennedy years (or are perhaps close to it). What I'm trying to reason out is this: Did Obama have his "Kennedy Moment," this week? Did he refocus the debate over race in the same way that Kennedy refocused the debate over religion? Are there are any lessons from those years that are applicable to the current campaign?

You can take your responses off-list. I'm in the office all day if you want to reach me by telephone, it's 717-783-7305.

Cheers,
John Micek.
