Crikey! No Ozzie here, mate. USA, born and bred! Well, born Okinawa, bred
USA. Anyway...

I almost certainly picked up "muso" from conversations with a man my sister
lived with for years, Jakko Jaczyk. He's an accomplished British prog-pop
guitarist who has played with Level 42, Tom Robinson, Dave Stewart, 21st
Century Schizoid Band and others (and is now married to the daughter of King
Crimson drummer Michael Giles.)

(Kerry, you'd like his stuff, especially his record as The 64 Spoons -- very
Gentle Giant!)

Anyway, Jakko used the term "muso" in reference to himself and his peers,
often as a gently self-mocking term for players with advanced technique
working in the pop world.

Incidentally, Jakko was also the first guy to turn me on to Jellyfish. His
tastes were broad.
