Subject: Re: TR

I fall into the respect (but don't always get) category. I love "Hello
It's Me," "I Saw The Light," "Can We Still Be Friends?" and "Couldn't I
Just Tell You," but I think "We Gotta Get You A Woman" is definitely a
weird choice for a single and never really liked it. "Bang The Drum All
Day" will instantly put me into a good mood and Alex Chilton's cover of
"Slut" is fun - I need to hear the original someday.

To be honest, the only album I really know, other than comps, is
Utopia's "Adventures in Utopia." I think "Set Me Free" was a single or
at least got FM airplay, so I pick up the album and got into it. "Love
Alone" had a great Queen vibe and I really liked them at the time.

The only time I saw him (88 or 89) he was doing a sort of soulful, big
sounding show...reminded me of Prince at times and I thought it was cool
that he could show so much diversity. Unfortunately, right about when he
could've reeled me in, "A Cappella" came out and the genre hopping just
bugged me. I lost further respect for him when he did The New Cars
thing.

BTW, Day one of SXSW is off to a great start. I saw Van Morrison, Zykos,
Okkervil River backing up Roky Erickson, Centro-Matic and Paul Kelly.
Three more days and the lineups just get more difficult to decide what
to miss/see.

Back to Todd - Checking the All Music guide, I'm more impressed with his

the idea:
