<< Which reminds me: is Dave Clark still "sitting on" the Dave Clark
Five
music, declining to release it? I've never been too clear on that story.
Apart from the two-CD "History" from the 90s (which I'm glad I have) is
it
true that he is holding out for some huge offer that may never come? >>

He may indeed,
but knowing how savvy Dave was/is/shall always be
in matters of the pound (dollar, yen, euro, et al)
he's more than likely more than aware
of the lack of, um, profit to be made
in what's left of the (retail) music biz nowadaze.

in fact,
That last DC5 release of which you speak
was tagged onto Dave's negotiating with Disney/Hollywood Records
to reissue the Queen catalog back in the 90's,
wasn't it?

MY question, however,
especially in light of Mike Smith's recent passing,
is why in heck Paul Shaffer & Co.
continue to sit on the home video release
of his 2003 Tribute to Mike "British Invasion" concert film?!!

Originally produced in order to help defray Mike's medical bills,
the film should have (Would have!) likely raised enough money
to keep the increasingly ailing Mr. Smith in hospital.

But from what I understand,
unable to continue to cover costs,
Mike was returned to home care several months ago,
where he caught the pneumonia
which ultimately lead to his quicker-than-expected death.

NOW the British Invasion film
is being re-run on VH1 Classic, I believe it is,
posthumously....
but STILL no home release.

Sure, there would've been music clearances etc. aplenty to clear
in order to facilitate this film's asap release,
but surely not three years' worth
(especially considering the nature, and urgency,
of its getting onto the market in order to assist its namesake
....not to mention Paul's well-placed connections,
which I'd assume could've cut lotsa red tape in the process).

Anyone else have any info/insights into this ??
