Well..not actually...but it was a cute headline and cover of the Argentine sport daily, Óle. My neighbor across the hall gets the daily delivered to his apartment every morning. So, when I leave for work I glance down to see the headline (which is usually pretty big). Los Nuevos Ramones was the headline two days ago. Let me briefly explain.

Ramon Diaz is a famous Argentine soccer player and is the coach of one of the Big 5 soccer teams of Buenos Aires (Boca Jrs., River Plate, Independiente, Racing Club, and San Lorenzo). Ramon´s club, San Lorenzo has recently gone on a shopping spree and brought in 3 new players to the squad right before the season begins. In fact, his last signing, Andres De Allesandro, was brought in two days before the season started (this past weekend). As such, the article (which I read at work) was referring to the new signings that San Lorenzo and Ramon Diaz had made that week. Thus, Los Nuevos Ramones!..

Just another, colorful example of how embedded the Ramones (the actual band) are in Argentine pop culture.

By the way, this past weekend.. San Lorenzo lost its home opener to lowly Newell´s Old Boys of Rosario, 0 - 2. Film at 11.
