Steve Gerber's passing is a real loss to the comics' community.

His Howard the Duck (don't think about the movie with which he had nothing
to do) was the pre-cursor to Vertigo-style comics. It was odd, funny, very
dark and brimming with crazy concepts and thoughtful commentary.

Sad.
