Hello,
Since I just found out this list will be down in 2 weeks, I thought I
might take advantage of the subscriber list (which I am new to) to
just let you all know of the release of the debut album by my old band
- 27 years after we broke up.

We were called (oddly enough) Doug Derek & The Hoax, and played very
edgy American-style Power Pop in the Northeast, which was like the
kiss of death for anyone who attempted it in that region. Needless to
say, we could hardly get gigs, were never signed to a label, and broke
up after just a year of being together. However, the songs were very
strong in the writing and musicianship.

Still, I literally kept the masters in my closet for the past 27 years
with hardly a listen - I just didn't wanna revisit that particular
chapter of my life... So I guess you could say this stuff is about the
obscurest of the obscure.

Well, the owner of Rave-Up Records in Italy just happened to hear a
couple songs through this person giving a copy to another one and
inquired about releasing the stuff last Spring -- the first interest
anyone ever showed from a record company. As a creator of all the
songs, it felt great!! Anyway, one thing led to another, and I pulled
the master tapes out, painstakingly digitized every track of every
song, and made the "debut that never was" and aptly called it "Who The
Hell Is Doug Derek?"

I hate to sound like one of those shameless self-promoters cause I
never was and always detested the phoniness within and therefore could
never "play the music biz game" very well... fact is I am a non-
conformist, which just does not work in show business. :-)

However -- since Audities will be history on February 17th -- I wanted
to invite all of you on the Audities list who are interested in true
American Power Pop to check it out and know that the album is
available now digitally (self-released on the Internet Music Media
label) and is being released in a couple weeks on limited vinyl via
Rave-Up, and will also be available in limited glass-mastered CD
format on the Kool Kat Musik label with a special second bonus CD of
extra songs available exclusively when purchasing from them only.

So please go check out some of the stuff at the following sites - I
hope you like it!:

Sincerely,
Michael B. - Doug Derek & The Hoax/Internet Music Media
