Mike,
There's a Jury's Inn in Islington - they're a budget hotel group - rooms are fairly basic, put pretty good value. This one is just a couple of minutes from the Angel tube station and more importantly about half a mile from the gig venue:

There's also a Hilton close by if you're feeling a little more flush.
Islington is pretty close to the City and is a trendy area these days. Take a very short tube ride to King's Cross and you can change to any of the lines that will take you to all the sights you could want to see.
