Heretic.
Okay, not to turn this into the DarkPop Underground, but if this sounds
interesting, then I'd say check out the following.
* My favorite release of 2007 was the new Birthday Massacre.
MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/thebirthdaymassacre
* The Dreaming is sort of related - former front guy from Stabbing
Westward: http://www.myspace.com/thedreaming
* I do a bit of co-writing with these guys:
http://www.myspace.com/fiction8
* Apoptygma Berzerk is fun: www.apoptygmaberzerk.de
* VNV Nation is on the dancy side: www.myspace.com/vnvnation
Basically, if you take stuff like Skinny Puppy and NIN and mix it with
atmospheric post-punk stuff you're in the neighborhood.

/"...it's a lonesome thing to be passing small towns with the lights
shining sideways when the night is down, or going in strange places with
a dog nosing before you and a dog nosing behind, or drawn to the cities
where you'd hear a voice kissing and talking deep love in every shadow
of the ditch, and you passing on with an empty, hungry stomach failing
from your heart." /
