And I'd like to add another perspective as someone who has also administered another music based list for a number of years (and been a member of it for a dozen years or so).

Don't take yourself so seriously. If something upsets you, try taking a few deep breaths, walking the dog, talking to your kids, reading a book, or spending time with your spouse, friends or family. Try examining why it upsets you so much.

It's just a silly internet listserv. It has very little to do with your "real" life. Short of actual personal threats, racism, stalking, etc., I just can't get that worked up about what's said on an internet music list.

That said, I'm up for whatever this list morphs into as it's introduced me to music that's brought real joy to my life.

Carry on (please).

Hi,

Just wanted to briefly talk about my experience of running a internet discussion group.

Almost eight years ago, the moderator of a large mailing list dedicated to the music of Jackson Browne decided she had enough, and posted she was going to take down the list in a few weeks.

I was an active member, so as soon as I saw the post I set up a group on eGroups.com and invited people to join. I presented a fait accompli. I knew that the subject of transition could be discussed forever, but sometimes action is what is needed, not words.

I humbly suggest that Sam, Sarah or Bill M, able volunteers whom I am grateful for, either alone or as a board, just do it!

I enjoyed reading Bill Jones' post reminiscing about the friends he would not have met, the music he would not have heard but for Audities. This list has meant the same for me. I remember meeting Michael Coxe in L.A. about seven years ago, it almost seemed unlikely that this mythical virtual authority was embodied in a real person. His retirement is well earned.

See ya,
Sherman
