This is directed primarily to the latest posts of Sarah and Sam --
I've been on Yahoo Group mailing lists before. Would a Google group be comparable?
Jennifer Leduc mentioned a possible forum type set up. I'm not as a big a fan of that. The Big Takeover Yahoo Group became a much more quite place when thebigtakeover.com's website added a forum site. What I don't like about forums is that you have to log into a bunch of different folders. I prefer a list where you can get in your e-mail, either e-mail by e-mail or digest form.
I was also thinking of what would be a good name for a new group. The first thing that came to mind is What's Going Ahn, but I would imagine someone else has done that.
I definitely think that Audities had a heyday, when there was a convergence of great artists and folks like Bruce Brodeen and David Bash were riding that wave and getting the music into our mailboxes and ears. Like most "scenes" this couldn't last, and the list has never had the exact same energy.
But that doesn't mean it doesn't have value. This last toxic thread was started after a response to a post extolling the talents of Nicole Atkins. Oddly enough, she is my favorite artist that I discovered in 2007 because of this list. I'm about 98% certain that she would have never made my radar without this list. Learning about something like that which I love so much is reason alone, for me, to have this list continue, or a new list spring up to take its place.
