1. I didn't announce my retirement from polling due to lack of response (and the first poll or two got less response, BTW) from Auditeers. If anything, it's just that I am now so busy at this time of the year, I haven't been able to hype it up. In the past, I've found that just mentioning the poll or, especially, posting the results at any point, would always spur the vote. Because polling takes place over a month, people forget. Whoever does it next should make sure to promote it.
2. I just picked up the Lewis Taylor disc. Swell!
3. If there's one thing that this poll indicates to me, it's that everyone here should make sure to post about new releases they get that they like. There were a number of artists who I didn't even know had new music out in 2007. The best example is Superdrag's John Davis, who got one first place vote. Another good example is Nushu -- maybe someone did mention them, but I had no idea that Lisa Mychols had a new project. I've listened to clips on My Space, and that's now on the must buy list.
I'm not trying to pick on anyone - I'm sure that we're all guilty. But this is still a good place to get a head's up on new stuff, but we all have to pitch in.
Again -- thanks to everyone for participating and for all the kind words. The reason I started doing this was to see everyone's individual lists and then the collective consensus of fellow music freaks. It's always been worth it.
