(Shrug) Well the snare is loud, but not so loud as to not hear the other parts.
In fact the snare sounds pretty modest compared to some recent productions.
I guess I just don't hear that as being so awful... On the other hand I understand because I have the same reaction to the 80's overuse of the DX-7 rhodes sounds that marred a lot of tracks I would have liked otherwise.
