People bashed Steve Lillywhite's production, but it's genius on that tune. I
remember telling Marshall how much I loved size of the thing and the sound of
the chimes, and him saying how there were no chimes and trying to explain to a
layman how that they got that sound. Great stuff!
I also remember all of the talk, mostly negative, regarding the production work on Field Day. I thought it was odd that people were blaming Steve's Lillyswhite's production as a reason why the album did not sell well. While the album certainly sounds different than the debut, "different" does not equate to "bad". Personally, I love how the drums sound on Field Day. On some songs, it sounds like Robert is beating the hell out of them!
