I can't wait to get their upcoming 2nd release, Neptune, but in the meantime, I've been able to listen to snippets online (http://www.dukespirit.com/lovetoken ; you can also go to http://www.myspace.com/thedukespirit for new tunes and tour dates). They're a London based band that I first heard of a few years ago listening to BBC 6 Music online. Neptune has a UK release scheduled for Feb 4th. I also highly recommend their 2005 CD, Cuts Across The Land. Their influences include Sonic Youth, Velvet Underground, PJ Harvey, Patti Smith. Some songs have a bluesy feel, others have a punk-meets-soul vibe (check out the great horn section in "Lassoo").
I admit that I have very few female singers in my music collection but I'm glad that Liela Moss is one of them. And I can admit that I have a bit of a girl crush on her too ;-). Just watch their 2 newest videos and you'll understand why...lol.
