S. Mason:
<<Relentless positivity and an inability to take even relatively mild
criticism about specific issues (such as "weak and flat" singing, which would indeed
be a problem on an album in a style as vocals-forward as power pop) are the
quickest route to complete irrelevance for any scene. If people need a claque,
they can buy one, but Audities does not exist to reflexively cheer every
element about every album that has a Rickenbacker on it.>>
Well, I certainly can't speak for Ryan, but I don't believe he was
referencing Bob's criticism of the Receiver record specifically; rather, he may have
noticed (like I have) that literally every time Bob has posted over the past few
weeks, he has placed a pointed barb somewhere within his post. Yes, Stewart,
"relentless positivity" is a bad thing, but so is relentless negativity. It
really has nothing to do with Rickenbackers.
