>Having said that, my hesitancy to use the term "Best
Of" comes from my concern that someone out there
*might* see me as being arrogant and pedantic, and I
never want anyone to feel that way about me.
Hopefully people will always think of me as a big fan
of whatever music I'm writing about, and that I'm just
really excited about it.

Playing the Devil's advocate here, so don't completely
crucify me, but this sounds a lot like a Bill O'Reilly
"No Spin" spin. Maybe you really don't want to offend
anyone, because you might want them to play one of
your IPO's?
--------
>I have been offended in the past by someone stating
that the IPO lineup they attended was crap and
proceed to pick everything apart. Now what did that
accomplish?
David Bash tirelessly organizes and plans these events
,the bands are
not usually paid but are doing the set to sell
cds,get exposure,support
other like minded bands,etc<
--------
...and isn't this what is inheritedly wrong with IPO?
There's an old saying: "You get what you pay for."
Some bands probably shouldn't be playing this
festival. That said, I've attended a few of these and
the amount of discoveries I had FAR outweighed the few
"crap bands" that played. To put together an event of
this magnitude (especially when you're not in the city
where you are holding the event) has to be daunting.
At some point, you are taking peoples word for a band
you are adding to a bill - Even if you did hear a song
or two by them on their My Space page. I'm sure that
someone that I thought was "crap," was someone else's
highlight of the week...It's all subjective - Didn't
Jeff Shelton just admit to not liking The Raspberries?
Can't Michael unsubscribe him for this?
It's fracking MUSIC people - Quit taking yourselves so
seriously. We're beginning to sound the like
whiney-geeks who got beat up in High School in Robbie
Rist's "Shake Some Action" prologue. (Apologies to
those who were/are).

(Who's more impressed by what IS IN "Shake Some
Action," than what was left out)
