There was a record store in Charlotte owned by a guy who was really burnt out
on the business. Though there was not too much at the place I wanted for
myself, it was a blast to go in there and watch him berate customers for picking
up something like Kenny Rogers, Kenny G (all the Kennys!) etc. This was in
1997-1999 mind you, so CD sales were probably already dropping but this guy didn't
care. He was into alt.country and everyone else could take a fucking leap. It
was a tremendous guilty pleasure of mine even as I knew he was killing his
business. Don't know what it says about me (nothing good, I guess) but it was
surreal and entertaining as hell.
