Happy New Year to all Audities peeps!
2007 was the year I REALLY got back into music after purchasing my first
iPod. Listened to loads of new stuff and was constantly downloading obscure
things I'd only ever read about. Fantastic! Anyway, I've still to get hold
of a lot of the discs that Audities folk have praised over the last year but
these are the ones that I loved to death in 2007...
1. Candie Payne - I Wish I Could Have Loved You More.
2. Edwyn Collins - Home Again.
3. Spoon - Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga.
4. Alternate Routes - Good And Reckless And True.
5. Pearlfishers - Up With The Larks.
6. Besnard Lakes - Besnard Lakes Are A Dark Horse.
7. Au Revoir Simone - Bird Of Music.
8. Tiny Dancers - Free School Milk.
9. Blonde Redhead - 23.
10. 1990's - Cookies.
11. Okkervil River - The Stage Names.
12. Ghosts - The World Is Outside.
13. Lucky Soul - Great Unwanted.
14. Caribou - Andorra.
15. Brunettes - Structure & Cosmetics.
16. Voxtrot - s/t.
17. Nick Lowe - At My Age.
18. Justin Currie - What Is Love For.
19. Band Of Horses - Cease To Begin.
20. Proclaimers - Life With You.
21. Menomena - Friend & Foe.
22. Cherry Ghost - Thirst For Romance.
23. Clare & The Reasons - The Movie.
24. Levon Helm - Dirt Farmer.
25. BFI - Dragons.
Top mini album: The Draytones - Forever On.
Over hyped and over here: Kate Nash. Those "Smack The Pony" girls had better
songs than this young lady. Maybe she'll improve with age...
One to watch out for in 2008: Findo Gask. http://www.myspace.com/findogaskuk
They've taken down their best song "Pocket Rocket" but the new single "Va Va
Va" is up there in all it's electronic pop glory. Enjoy! The singer, Gerard
Black, is an old work colleague of mine but he didn't pay me to plug them...
Looking forward to official new releases by Magnetic Fields, Joe Jackson,
Sons and Daughters, The Dimes and Hot Chip. I've downloaded bootlegged
advance copies but I want the real thing now!
All the best for 2008.
Regards, Brian
