I thought this was a pretty good year - there are a number of worthy
things lurking just outside the top 20. But I can only vote for 20, so
here goes:

1. Graham Parker: Don't Tell Columbus
2. Amy Winehouse: Back To Black
3. The Good, The Bad & The Queen: The Good, The Bad & The Queen
4. VAST: April
5. The Birthday Massacre: Walking with Strangers
6. The Clientele: God Save the Clientele
7. Sarah Nixey: Sing, Memory
8. Lily Allen: Alright, Still
9. The National: Boxer
10. Blonde Redhead: 23
11. LoveLikeFire: An Ocean in the Air
12. Ron Hawkins: Chemical Sounds
13. The Choir Practice: The Choir Practice
14. Minipop: A New Hope
15. Mitch Easter: Dynamico
16. The Frames: The Cost
17. Fountains Of Wayne: Traffic and Weather
18. Ian Hunter: Shrunken Heads
19. Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings: 100 Days, 100 Nights
20. Trances Arc: XOXOX

/"...it's a lonesome thing to be passing small towns with the lights
shining sideways when the night is down, or going in strange places with
a dog nosing before you and a dog nosing behind, or drawn to the cities
where you'd hear a voice kissing and talking deep love in every shadow
of the ditch, and you passing on with an empty, hungry stomach failing
from your heart." /
