Subject hippies, dirty and otherwise

Hippy culture has been quite big lately and LA based Arthur mag (a  
freebie) waves the freek flag high. I kind if like that Arthur is  
heavy into noise rock to balance out the lefty politics. [Not a fan of  
politics mixed in w/my pop culture.] Thurston Moore and Byron Coley do  
an interesting, if utterly pretentious column. Becky from Lavender  
Diamond was on the cover of Arthur an issue or so ago.

I first heard Lavender Diamond via the Matador site which had  
something like 5 songs going. I was online and listened while along,  
quite enjoyed what I heard but have heard enough to last me a long  
time. What I like best about the band is Becky's boyfriend/drummer is  
cartoonist Ron Rege jr who's a fun artist.
