Hey Bob,
For what it's worth..
I don't think this thread is weird nor means one is trying to 
recapture one's youth. Me, I came to the beach boys late in life. 
Couldn't stand them as a kid. I have a developed a love for soft pop 
and/or baroque pop. There was clearly a lot more bands going for this 
type of sound back in the 60's. Thus, mining this period makes sense 
to me. 
It also doesn't mean one doesn't get into music of today that 
reflects music from this decade. 

No one tells somewhat who first love in art is expressionism that 
they are merely living in the past.
