I don't think I've seen Bruce Foxton mentioned yet, and despite the fact that he was pretty dire as a singer, he was pretty key to the power of The Jam. 

And file it under "maybe it's just me" but I can't think of Talking Heads without thinking of Tina Weymouth's prominence in their sound, and just thinking of that brings the opening of "Warning Sign" to mind. Not necessarily as a non-pareil chops kinda thing, but anyway.
