Man...to think we were dealing with music lovers with open minds on this list. 

As one of the progenitors of the second punk scene I gotta take exception to the comment that it was without melody or that it was pure aggression. Again, a handful of bands (Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, Flipper, Germs) do not DEFINE a scene -- they were merely the attention grabbing left-coast Maximum Rock And Roll poster children of the time. 

Yes it's true....our focus, as a movement, was in the protest songs against Reagan, The Russians and atomic proliferation but it wasn't the only flag we waved musically or sonically. The east coast scene -- specifically New York and Toronto represented some of the most traditionalist 1976-1979 punk sounds a fan could want. We just played the songs FASTER.
