And there's the rub, isn't it?

Both voices of two different and distinct musical movements. Both reviled during their rise to fame.

And yet....Dylan has somehow become a mystic. While Lydon is merely mythic.

Dylan, Neil Young, and Springsteen remain in my Holy Trinity of Selling Shit As Art.

Each an exceptional songwriter. Each the most unqualified performers to interpret their own material. It proves that no matter how bad a performer, somehow the SONG rises above.

And this is why Lydon will never be held in the same regard. He forgot to stop and write a song.
